Happy New Year.
We wanted to share some updates for 2017.
Deputy Principal and HT Social Science
After the two panels in the final week, it is exciting to share that the new Deputy is Mrs. Tracey Cunningham and the new Head Teacher Social Science is Mr Joel MacRae. Tracey's most recent position was with BOSTES, leading the professional learning and initial teacher education portfolios. She has also completed roles as the Quality Assessment officer for consistency of ROSA grades across all subjects and was a member of the national ACACA body overseeing consistency with National assessment and teacher accreditation. Prior to her work with the Board, Tracey had been working at Matraville High School and had been Deputy Principal, Head of Middle School and Head Teacher in Queensland.
Joel joins us from Merrylands High School where he has been the substantive Head Teacher Social Science as well as leading a number of whole school teams. He has taught a wide number of Social Science subjects including Economics and I am sure that he will do an outstanding job at a classroom, faculty and whole school leadership level.
Thank you to our four parent representatives who gave their time generously to ensure our executive is full staffed to start the 2017 school year.
Bon Voyage to our students, Mr Brian Ferguson and Ms Jaclyn Cush who will take our group of students to Italy tomorrow. I am sure they will have a great time and we look forward to hearing some great stories when they return. The paperwork for this excursion makes Encyclopaedia Britannica look like light reading, so thank you to both Brian and Jaclyn for the hours that have gone into this trip.
Years 7, 11 and 12 will return to school on Monday 30th January.
Years 8, 9 and 10 will return to school on Tuesday 31st of January.
The school year will start as Week 1A. Students in years 8-12 will need to access their timetables via their Sentral portals in the last week of the holidays. A paper copy will not be issued on Day 1.
Year 7 students will not have access to their Sentral portal at this point, so they should attend school with books and pens for Day 1. No other equipment will be required on Day 1.
More details about where students will meet will be sent closer to the date as well as posted on our school website.
We wish all families an enjoyable few weeks until school returns.
